Every California business is required to post 18 employment notices to ensure their employees are aware of their rights in the workplace. Starting January 1, 2024, four of those employment notices have mandatory updates — so make sure you’re prepared for 2024 by pre-ordering your CalChamber 2024 California and Federal Labor Law Posters plus any California Wage Orders specific to your industry as new postings are required January 1.
The four notices that must be updated for the new year are:
- California’s Minimum Wage notice (reminder: California’s minimum wage increases to $16 per hour for all employers on January 1, 2024);
- Healthy Workplaces/Healthy Families Act of 2014 — Paid Sick Leave;
- Safety and Health Protection on the Job (Cal/OSHA); and
- California Law Prohibits Workplace Discrimination and Harassment.
Keep in mind that in 2023, two notices were updated mid-year — the Federal Minimum Wage notice and the Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal — and those updated notices are included on the new 2024 posters.
CalChamber’s convenient 28″ x 46″ all-in-one poster combines all 18 separate state and federal employment notices that California employers must post. Plus, CalChamber monitors mandatory updates throughout the year — and our direct contact with state agencies enhances our ability to provide accurate, up-to-date employment and labor law notices.
Be sure to display a poster in each business location and jobsite where employees can easily see it and read it. In addition to the English poster, you’ll need a Spanish version if you have Spanish-speaking employees. If 10 percent or more of your workforce speaks another language, you’ll need a poster in that language too.
Additionally, employers must separately post the Wage Order(s) specific to their industry — and new wage order postings are required on January 1, 2024. CalChamber sells each of the wage orders as an all-in-one poster that combines the multiple wage order pages in one location.
CalChamber’s free Wage Order Wizard can help you determine which of the 17 California Wage Orders you need to post — and there may be more than one!
Finally, the Worker’s Compensation Rights and Benefits pamphlets — which must be distributed to all new hires — also have mandatory updates, and the Unemployment Insurance pamphlets will have mandatory changes expected by February 2024. CalChamber also offers these pamphlets separately or as part of the Required Notices Kit. Note: Paid Family Leave pamphlets and State Disability Insurance pamphlets had mandatory changes issued in June 2023 and July 2023, respectively.
Pre-orders for 2024 will begin shipping in mid-December!
