On July 1, 2024, nearly all California non-health care employers must have a workplace violence prevention program in place — including required training that must take place upon the violence prevention plan’s initial implementation. This endeavor may be daunting to some, but CalChamber’s upcoming webinar — Completing Your Workplace Violence Prevention Program — can help.
Under the new workplace violence prevention standards, covered employers have several new obligations, including but not limited to:
- Establishing, implementing and maintaining a written “workplace violence prevention plan;”
- Training your workforce on your workplace violence prevention plan;
- Utilizing a violent incident log for each instance of workplace violence involving your employees; and
- Record retention.
Unfortunately, employers don’t have a “one-size-fits-all” solution — each program must be uniquely tailored to the specific conditions of an employer’s worksites and operations.
In our upcoming webinar, CalChamber’s employment law experts will provide the tools employers need to efficiently and successfully complete the many tasks associated with the new law’s requirements, including:
- Understanding the law’s requirements and each employee’s role under the law;
- Obtaining full organizational support in identifying and mitigating workplace violence hazards;
- Designing a fully compliant training program specific to your workplace violence prevention plan;
- Creating procedures for the use of on-site personnel and law enforcement to respond to workplace violence incidents; and
- Implementing a post-incident response plan, including completing the mandated incident log, investigation and mitigation of future incidents.
Plus, webinar attendees will receive the CalChamber Workplace Violence Prevention Toolkit — which includes a draft workplace prevention plan and other fillable forms — to further assist them in meeting these new requirements!
