On April 30, the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) issued a “trade release” that could affect employers in all states, including states with state plans, such as California. States that have not yet adopted regulations at least as effective as the federal regulations regarding electronic reporting of Form 300A, Annual Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses are now required to submit this data by July 1, 2018.
All affected employers must submit injury and illness data to the federal OSHA Injury Tracking Application (ITA) online portal, which includes job aids to support users through the submission process.
Even though California has not yet adopted its own state rule, employers are advised to comply with federal OSHA’s directive to provide Form 300A data covering calendar year 2017 by July 1, 2018. For more information, visit federal OSHA’s website.
