Veterans Reporting Opens

Aug 1 2014 - Discrimination, Reporting Requirements - Gail Cecchettini Whaley

The Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) collects and compiles data on the employment of veterans with federal contractors and subcontractors.

The VETS filing season starts August 1, 2014, and the filing deadline is September 30, 2014.

Federal contractors and subcontractors are required to submit one of two reports, the VETS-100 or the VETS-100A, depending on the contract amount. In some cases, you must submit two reports.

Federal contractors receive a VETS-100 or VETS-100A form with filing instructions in July of each year with a filing deadline of September 30. According to DOL, the reporting requirements for 2014 are unchanged from prior years.

VETS, part of the U.S. Department of Labor, collects the data under the provisions of Title 38, United States Code, Section 4212(d). The VETS reporting is required on an annual basis. You can submit the information using one of the following methods:

  • Filing on the VETS-100 website;
  • Submitting an electronic file that complies with current DOL specifications; or
  • Submitting the report in hard-copy format.
