CalChamber wants to help take some of the sting out of complying with this year’s new employment laws.

CalChamber’s Halloween Costume Contest gives you the chance to prepare for any new labor laws in 2017 while having fun doing it! This October, our Halloween Costume Contest will give two lucky winners the chance to each win a CalChamber Preferred Membership and $250 Visa gift card.

Why is preferred membership more important than ever?

Laws

Governor Brown signed 898 of the 1,059 bills presented to him this year. Some of these will affect most California employers, and others will affect only employers in specific industries. Many of these laws and regulations go into effect on January 1, 2017.

Here are just some of the areas that you may need to address due to new laws in 2017 and beyond.

  • Wage and Hour
  • Discrimination and Retaliation Protections
  • Leaves of Absence and Benefits
  • Background Checks
  • Workplace Safety
  • Litigation
  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Public Works and Prevailing Wages

Benefits of Preferred Membership

A CalChamber Preferred membership helps you stay up-to-date and in compliance by giving you access to tools and resources, such as HRCalifornia.com, and to signature services, such the Labor Law Helpline, where our employment law experts answer your questions on labor, employment and HR issues.

Membership also includes access to HR wizards, forms, checklists, a 20 percent discount on products featured on the CalChamber store, HRCI recertification credits and more.
